5 teachers killed in Iloilo Strait tragedy
Five teachers died after three passenger pump boats capsized off at the Iloilo-Guimaras Strait due to bad weather on Saturday, August 3.
Of the five dead teachers, four are from Lambunao National High School and the other from Agcuyawan Calsada Elementary School in Barotac Nuevo town.
Four the 5 casualties were Maria Emilie Legarda, Ivy Grace Labordo, Ma. Zeny Anilao, and Lynlyn Janolino from Lambunao National High School (LNHS).
They were among the 34 passengers of M/B Jenny Vince.
It was reported that the four teachers from LNHS were in Guimaras to process their applications for comprehensive examination in their master’s degree at Guimaras State University.
