DepEd allows schools to decide on graduation rites, moving-up ceremonies
The Department of Education (DepEd) said Friday it would be up to public schools to decide on whether or not to push through with graduation rites and moving-up ceremonies amid the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
According to DepEd Undersecretary Annalyn Sevilla in a press briefing, end-of-school year rites set for April 3, 2020 have already been called off but schools may reschedule or not to continue or forgo the ceremonies depending on the results of consultation with parents and on the public health situation.
“Puwede po nila itong i-reschedule, puwede din po na ‘di na nila ituloy pero ito po ay kailangan ikonsulta sa mga magulang,” said Undersecretary Annalyn M. Sevilla in a press briefing aired over state-run PTV.
