Funds for free medical exam for teachers now ready
Annalyn Sevilla, Undersecretary for Finance Service and Education Programs Delivery Unit, said that the Department of Education (DepEd), through the Bureau of Human Resources and Organizational Development (BHROD), is currently coordinating with PhilHealth to harmonize with the Universal Health Care Act which likewise provides free medical check-up.
The undersecretary said that this is also in “compliance” with the presidential veto message on the release of the Medical Exam Alowance (MEA).
“The MEA fund is ready for release and intact, DepEd is just waiting for the modality which is being discussed by BHROD with Philhealth,” Sevilla said.
