Classes for next school year may start on August 2020
The Department of Education (DepEd) conducted a survey on the opening of classes for School Year (SY) 2020-2021. The survey seeks the opinion of all DepEd personnel, learners, parents and guardians on the opening of classes for next school year.
The source also said that if in case August will be the start of classes, teachers will still receive their June and July salary whether there will be classes or not on these months.
The same source said that salary for May will be released on the 1st week of May.
Same source said that Midyear bonus is already processed and now ready but it will be released starting May 15 or earlier if request is approved.

- Those who applied for Emergency Loan last year are not qualified to apply for GSIS

The Department of Education (DepEd) conducted a survey on the opening of classes for School Year (SY) 2020-2021. The survey seeks the opinion of all DepEd personnel, learners, parents and guardians on the opening of classes for next school year.
Options for the opening of classes include: sometime within June 1 to June 15, sometime within June 16 to June 30, sometime within July 1 to July 15, sometime within July 16 to July 31, sometime within August 1 to August 15 and sometime within August 16 to August 31. Other than these dates, respondents may also suggest other dates not specified herein.
BASED ON COMMENTS
Most the comments of netizens on the link of Deped Survey shared by DepEd and other FB groups, they prefer August as the start of classes. Many also said that it is better if classes will start only when the pandemic ends.

"For the good of all,it's better to move the opening 2 months after this crisis will gone in order to give more time for us teachers and all the people to recover and also we have enough time to prepare our schools and school children as well."
"f the country cannot be cleared as covid free this June, so the best way is to move it. AUGUST to MARCH if ever pag wala ng covid next year then back it to normal."
"I may say that COVID 19 is not just like a traffic lights once it turned red stop and once it turned green go...it would take time to flatten the curve and does not necessarily mean once the situation has been stabilized would mean that the flow of life is back normal abruptly.It may extend enough times just to make sure that the situation is back to normal..to my own opinion , opening of classes would be August or September."

If the comments will be the basis of DepEd then classes WILL start on August because it's the majority. As of this posting we do not know yet the result of the survey. We will update you once DepEd releases the result.

BASED ON LEAKED INFORMATION
On the other hand, a source leaked an information claiming it as a result of the DepEd Regional Director’s teleconference conducted on April, 15, 2020, that they proposed August as the opening of classes for school year (SY) 2020-2021.

We have to wait for the issuance of DepEd Order. Any information on school opening remains not yet final and unofficial unless a DepEd Order will be issued.
