No graduation, moving-up nationwide while there is quarantine
The Department of Education (DepEd) on April 8, Wednesday, announced that no graduation and moving-up ceremonies in any school nationwide will be allowed while quarantine due to coronavirus disease (COVID-19) threat in the country remains in place.

The Department of Education (DepEd) on April 8, Wednesday, announced that no graduation and moving-up ceremonies in any school nationwide will be allowed while quarantine due to coronavirus disease (COVID-19) threat in the country remains in place.
DepEd Secretary Leonor Briones said that the decision of the department not to allow schools to conduct graduation ceremonies and other end-of-school-year (EOSY) rites is according to the “no mass gathering” advisory of the Department of Health (DOH) and of the Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF).
“This is not only applicable in Luzon with the extended enhanced community quarantine but also nationwide because there is a significant number of [local government units] that have declared their own community quarantines,” Secretary Briones explained.
Recently, the agency has allowed schools to decide on the conduct of graduation rites and moving-up ceremonies from April 15 to 17 once the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Luzon and in other areas have been lifted, supposed to have been lifted on April 12.

With the extension of the Luzon-wide ECQ until April 30, and with community quarantines still in place in other parts of the country, Briones said that DepEd has decided to ask all schools not to conduct graduation ceremonies and EOSY rites anymore.
