The Department of Education (DepEd) is extending enrollment in public schools for the upcoming school year until July 15.
Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque announced the development during a Palace press briefing. The month-long enrollment period, which started on June 1 was supposed to end on Tuesday, June 30.
“Ang mabuting balita po, mga magulang, extended po ang enrollment until July 15,” he said.

“Huwag naman ho hayaan na matigil ang proseso ng edukasyon ng ating mga anak bagaman may COVID-19,” he added.

The extended enrollment period covers kindergarten until Grade 12. DepEd said its remote and drop box enrollment system would continue.
The month-long enrollment period was initially done remotely through online registration, phone calls, and text messaging.
DepEd only expanded it on June 16 to include a “drop box” system so students and parents without access to the internet, can drop enrollment forms in their schools.
Classes are set to open on Aug. 24 via ‘blended’ learning as the coronavirus threat prevents in-personal classes.
This means schools will have to make use of printed modules, online lessons, and television and radio instruction.
