More learners and teachers can soon access DepEd Commons, the online education platform of the Department of Education as the agency announced plans to upgrade it.
DepEd Undesecretary Alain Pascua revealed that the department is working to upgrade the online platform so that more users can simultaneously access it without technical problems.
DepEd Commons supports distance learning and can be accessed by both public and private school teachers and learners. The platform is expected to be used largely starting next month given that online education is one of the modes of learning under ‘blended learning.’
“The Department of Education (DepEd) is deep in its preparation to strengthen the capacity of the DepEd Commons to assist more learners and teachers in distance learning in time for the opening of classes in August,” the DepEd said in a statement.
Last week, DepEd announced that the online platform already has over 8 million users.
Pascua said the agency plans to double the number to include more learners and teachers.
“We would want to reach out all of the 17 million, or even more than the 17 million learners that we have including the teachers,” Pascua said.
The DepEd has several times reminded the public that learning materials in DepEd Commons can be downloaded for free.
